A 57-year-old man, Mr. Olusola Adeigbe, has been arraigned before an Ijede Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ikorodu, Lagos State, for the alleged property theft worth N111,200.
Adeigbe was arraigned on five counts bordering on felony, stealing and breach of public peace.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Aminu Isaac, said the accused committed the offences with others at large in June and November 2018 at No. 3B Sunday Adebanjo Street, Lowa Estate, Ikorodu.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant stole wall looping boxes and Y. V. junction box valued at N12,200; four bundles of 20mm pipes valued at N38,000; and three other items valued at N58,500, all belonging to one Alhaji Surajudeen Adekoya.
Adeigbe added that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by illegally entering into a landed property to damage the padlock on the gate valued N2,500.
He told the court that the offences contravened sections 411, 280, 339, 52 and 53 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Oshodi Makanju, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till February 28, 2019.
