Bauchi inaugurates Committee for Recovery of Looted Funds and Property

Governor Bala Mohammed today inaugurated the committee set up to recover government properties and looted funds by the previous administration in the state.

At the inauguration ceremony held at Banquet Hall, Government House Bauchi, the Governor said the setting up of the committee became necessary as the state had received over 2 trillion naira from May 2007 to May 2019 from the federation account.

Governor Bala Mohammed noted that total revenue collected by the immediate past administration in the state stood at over 400 billion naira while the unpaid gratuities are 27 billion naira.

He regretted that the current debt for the state is 150 billion naira, and assured that integrity and accountability would remain the guiding principles of his administration.

The Governor, who said the committee was constituted to recover looted government properties and funds, charged members of the committee to justify the confidence reposed in them by being just and sincere in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Isa Hamma Misau who spoke on behalf of members, pledged to discharge their assignment in accordance with the terms of reference.

Senator Misau appealed to people of the state to support the committee in order to ensure success.

The committee inaugurated to recover looted funds and property is expected to submit its report within three months from the day of its inauguration.
