Fidelity Bank renovates classrooms at Gombe village school

Fidelity Bank Plc has renovated three blocks of three classrooms each at the Government Comprehensive Day Secondary School in Shongo Sarkin Yaki village in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe state as part of its community service.

Speaking at a ceremony to inaugurate the renovated buildings at the village, the Northeast Regional Director of the Fidelity Bank, Dr. Musa Tarim Buka said the intervention was prompted by the deteriorating learning condition in the school because of dilapidated infrastructure

He said the bank decided to intervene through renovation of the classrooms as well as provision of chairs and desks for the students.

The Regional Director added that the bank has been embarking on such projects in different communities across the country as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Principal of the school, Mr. James Alpha Tanglan, commended the bank for the gesture.

He said before the renovation students were suffering and shunning classes due to poor infrastructure at the school.

Speaking on behalf of the community, the Village Head of Shongo, Sarkin Yaki Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Husseni, commended the bank for the kind gesture and called on the government to provide other social amenities to the village.

The Village Head appealed to the state government to provide water and construct an access road to the community.

“Now that Fidelity Bank has come to our aid in education, we need the state government to look at our community and address our lingering challenges that include water scarcity and lack of access roads,” he said.
