The Guardian reports that to ensure prudence, transparency and accountability of funds, the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) has canvassed for progressive funding of projects in annual budgets.
According to The Guardian, FRC’s Head of Finance and Accounts of the commission, Mr. Sampson Eletuo made this remark, when he led an eight-member delegation to inspect uncompleted and abandoned projects in Anambra State.
According to him, there is need for consistent annual budgeting to help tackle the challenges of uncompleted federal projects across the country.
He observed that most of the contractors in the state were out of site due to lack of funds to complete their projects.
Eletuo said the commission, which mandate was to see government’s investments get value for monies spent, contact contractors and file reports on priority projects that require immediate completion.
The state Federal Controller of Works, Mr. Edwards Bosah, lamented that most of the abandoned projects inspected by the delegation have spanned over seven years.
