Alhaji Kassim Mohammed-Kassim, a member representing Akwanga South Constituency in Nasarawa State House of Assembly, says he is reconstructing the 22-kilometre Gudi-Moroa road in the state.
Mohammed-Kassim (APC) said this was to boost socio-economic activities of his constituents.
He said that the reconstruction of the road in Akwanga would also boost agricultural activities of his constituents and the state at large.
He said that the road if reconstructed would not only reduce the plight residents faced in transporting their goods but would also fight unemployment and poverty as well.
The lawmaker said that he would spend over N5.6 million to construct the road, saying that the gesture was borne out of his desire to reduce the hardship his constituents faced when plying the road.
“So far, the people of my constituency can testify to what I have done to better their standards of living, I gave scholarship to some students, distributed cars, motorcycles and sank motorised boreholes.
“Other things I have done in my constituency were the payment of WAEC/NECO fees to students among other gestures.
“Today, I am launching the construction of this 22-kilometre road from Gudi Junction to Moroa village in my constituency,’’ he said.
Mohammed-Kassim assured of fruitful and quality representation of his people in Nasarawa State legislature and solicited their support to enable him succeeds in the task ahead of him.
He called on his constituents and the people of the state to pray and support President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov.Tanko Almakura’s administrations to enable them to succeed.
Mr Anthony Asakpa of Asakpa Engineering Service in Abuja, in charge of the road construction, promised to deliver quality job.
The road will be completed within seven weeks.
Some of the residents of the area, who spoke during the launch, urged the lawmaker not to relent in his efforts in initiating people-oriented projects that would better their lives.
On Jan. 28, 2016, the lawmaker disbursed N7 million scholarships to 600 students of his constituency.
He also distributed wrappers to over 200 women, especially widows in his constituency to improve their standard of living.
