Amosun reassures on Abeokuta-Sagamu expressway 10-lane expansion

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has made it known that there is no going back on his administration’s plan to reconstruct the Abeokuta- Sagamu expressway into a 10-lane road project.

New Telegraph reports that Amosun, who spoke at a two-day Treasury Board Meeting held at the Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said work would soon commence on the project.

He noted that the construction of the road would enhance industrial growth and social development of the state, assuring that all ongoing projects would be completed as he remained committed to constructing rural roads across the state.

He said: “You can be sure that there is no going back on the 10-lane Abeokuta/ Sagamu Interchange road project. “When government starts this project and others that we have earmarked for completion, people should not misconstrue our mission because the money we got are specifically for these projects.”

New Telegraph also reports that the state House of Assembly has summoned four commissioners to appear before it today on the need to expedite action on the state of roads across the state.

Those invited include Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite (Works and Infrastructure), Adeleke Adewolu (Special Duties), Chief Jide Ojuko (Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs), and Ms Adenrele Adesina (Budget and Planning).

The House under Order 19 Rule said there was an urgent public concern on the need to commence rehabilitation of roads across the rural areas as the rains subside.

New Telegraph reports that Speaker Suraj Adekunbi, who spoke at the sitting of the lawmakers, assured that the Amosun administration was committed to the construction and rehabilitation of all roads to enhance the socio-economic status of the state.

Earlier in their remarks, lawmakers, including Ganiyu Oyedeji, Olawale Alausa, Adeyemi Harrison and Rasaq Oduntan, sought the immediate palliative measures on the roads to allow for smooth human and vehicular movements on Ijoko-Ojodu, Eggua-Ilase- Oja Odan roads, Ijebu Ode and Ogun Waterside roads, New Telegraph reports.
