Investor, Delta State sign MoU on N5bn mechanic village

New Telegraph reports that Delta State Government has partnered a private investor, Re-Homes Property Development Company Limited, to construct an ultra-modern mechanic village in Asaba, the state capital.

According to New Telegraph, the Public-Private- Partnership (PPP) project, which is situated along the ever busy Asaba-Onitsha expressway, will gulp over N5 billion before its completion within 12 months. Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the firm, charged the company to be committed to the terms of the treaty.

Speaking during the ground-breaking ceremony in Asaba, the governor, supported by his Special Executive Assistant on Investment, Mr. Paul Nmah said his administration had also entered into agreement with other private investors for various projects, including affordable housing scheme and Independent Power Plant (IPP), New Telegraph reports.

Nmah said the investors were convinced that the agenda of the state government provided a valuable platform for businesses to strive, hence they keyed into his 5-prong SMART agenda. He explained that the village was designed as a one-stop shop for automobile artisans and dealers of vehicle spare parts, offering ancillary services.

Accoridng to New Telegraph, the Project Director, Mr. Chinedu Monu explained that the project would also serve as a skill acquisition centre for youths as there was also a provision for other ancillary services and infrastructure including banking, fire service, clinics, police post, conveniences, restaurants, business centres, large central park, adding that no such project will match it in Nigeria.

“The object of partnering with the state government to construct this ultra-modern market is to give our state capital a befitting aesthetics and for our auto engineers and spare parts dealers; stateof- the-art workshops and auto parts stall where all Deltans and in fact, Nigerians can purchase all manner of auto parts as well as repair their automobiles with the latest state of the art technologies and equipment in a most convenient and serene environment,” he noted.
