Dangote, Flour mills commences completion of Apapa-Wharf road project

The Memorandum of Understanding signed between Dangote Industries, Flour Mills Nigeria and the Federal Government last year, on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Apapa Port Wharf Access road through Corporate Social Responsibility, is on course to meet the July, 2018 completion deadline.

On Wednesday February 14, 2018, the President of Dangote Industries, Alh Aliko Dangote and GMD Flour Mills Nigeria Mr Paul Gbededo, embarked on a tour of the project site to see the significant progress that has been made on the reconstruction work carried out by AG Dangote construction company.

The 4km road which is funded by Dangote Industries and Flour Mills, to the tune of N4.3bl will reduce the traffic gridlock and logistics challenge faced by businesses around the area.

Speaking to Proshare WebTV Alhaji Aliko Dangote said he was impressed with the level of work done so far and was confident of the delivery of the road, on the set completion date.

According to him “We are building standard roads like the ones in Germany, that can last more than two generations” in the country.

The African Business Magnate acknowledged cheers from businessmen and workers in the Apapa area, who were happy with the rehabilitation work on the Wharf access road.

He also commended the Federal Government for exploring innovative ways in which the private sector can strategically intervene in the infrastructure space through the “corporate social responsibility” level.

On his part, the GMD of Flour Mills Nigeria Mr Paul Gbededo  said the quality of work on the project was top-class, and believed it will be of immense value for businesses in Apapa and the government of Nigeria.

Engineer Ashif Juma CEO of AG Dangote Construction, giving further insight into the project, said the 4km road was segmented into 2km(inbound) and 2km (outbound).

Engr Juma told Proshare WebTV that the outbound line of the road will be worked on by the end of June, 2018 while the inbound line should be ready by July, 2018.
