Ogun promises to refrain from demolishing properties in Ado-Odo/Ota LG

The Ogun State Government has reassured residents of Ado-Odo community in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government area that necessary steps will be taken to accommodate existing structures on acquired land in the area, but warned them to stop further construction on the land to avoid demolition.

The Chairman, Board of Directors, Ogun State Housing Corporation, Alhaji Bashiru Fadairo, stated this at the signing of an agreement on village excision between the government and the families of Oniyaka and Ashaje at the corporation’s office in Abeokuta, according to a statement made available on Sunday.

He urged them to see the gesture as a fair process, saying, “The state government is extremely keen at ensuring harmony between the people of the state and the government, and as you can see, the whole process was a transparent one for mutual benefit.”

Fadairo said the proposed Ado-Odo Housing Estate already had a master plan and layout, and that it would be provided with all necessary infrastructure to make living worthwhile in the area.

“The government is using this medium to warn against further illegal constructions on the land. Allow the corporation to commence work according to plan. And all those that have built houses on our land should come down to our office for negotiation,” he stated

Responding on behalf of the community, the Osolo of Ado-Odo, Alhaji Muftau Agbogunlori, expressed satisfaction with the terms and conditions of the agreement, and appreciated the state government for releasing portion of the land for the residents and for being ready to also accommodate existing structures within the estate.

He gave an assurance that the families would abide by the terms of the agreement.
