What Realtors Must Do To Stay Motivated & Keep Sales Momentum High

As realtors, you’ve probably heard it said somewhere before that, life’s not always going to be a rose garden.

Neither is real estate agency, but that’s okay. You just have to learn how to keep yourself motivated, no matter what’s happening in your life.

Just like in life, ours days as realtors are going to have peaks and valleys.

So how can you climb back up that hill when you feel like you’re at the bottom looking up?

Here are 5 easy strategies you can use to pull yourself back on track and keep the momentum going:

1. Practice positive affirmations.

I know it sounds cliche, but it’s not. You’re probably feeling overwhelmed, a little low, you’re lacking energy or think you just don’t have what it takes to keep going, getting clients, closing deals and so on… stop. Breathe. Know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can do exactly what you set out to do in real estate. Talk that negative voice in your head back into the shadows where it belongs.

2. Surround yourself with positive people

While this may sound like a no-brainier, it can be easier said than done.

It’s something you have to monitor. Start listening to those you surround yourself with. Do they emit positive vibes or are they typically pointing out flaws and planting seeds of doubt?

If you are currently going through bad times, the people you really need are those who can encourage you and help you in turning everything around, not negative people!

As harsh as that may sound, if you don’t get a new, more positive friend set you are letting the negative people hold you back from success.

Embrace all the positivity that you need in order to be motivated and energized. Cut all the negativity in your life – it doesn’t matter where it comes from. Negativity is a loop and you need to separate yourself from it.

3. Keep a vision book or journal and fill it with pictures.

I know a couple of people who made it a practice to own a vision journal (board) and they have gone on to become quite the exceptional sales persons.

They buy these journals and stick pictures of things they wish to acquire or goals they wish to achieve in them.

Over the years as dreams and goals got bigger; they filled it up with more pictures, positive affirmations, goals, and strategies.

Using this strategy, they were able to consistently motivate themselves and remember their goals without any outside help.

Looking at those images often, had a super psychological effect on them and it helped to stay focused on all they needed to achieve. The more they thought about it, the more possible it became to their mind.

4. Celebrate your small victories

If you want to stay motivated to do more, there is a need to always celebrate your victories, no matter how small and inconsequential they look.

Whether it is finally convincing that potential client to go for an inspection or managing to sell an half plot or finding a new client.

Celebrating now will feed you more hope of achieving a much bigger feat in the near future.

5. Identify and learn from top-producing realtors in your locality

By identifying with top producing realtors, you will notice that i emphasized on locality. When picking who to learn from, make a preference for the ones in your immediate area.

The reason is not far-fetched. They are the ones with a more hands-on knowledge about how best to sell in that particular area you have picked. Observe how they work and function in the community. Learn their tips, tricks and their method of doing business.

Your best bet would be with tenured and top-producing realtors in your area rather than online gurus who promise you the world via an online video course.

6. Challenge the best staff in your office with your hardwork

Look for that one person in the office that works the hardest and out work him/her.

If they stay an hour late, you need to stay an hour and a half late. If they go with two listings a day, you need to go on four.

You need to be above all the noise and be this machine that has this routine that outworks everyone to capture all the opportunities that you want.

7. Work for your top rementors for FREE

You are the people that you hang around with and if you offer your services with your talents or skills upfront to these top realtors chances are they are going to take it and you are going to catch their habits. They are also going to influence you to push your game.

In order to get something in return you are going to offer your skills  for free. This will be the best education you’re gonna get – better than any education you can buy.

8. Network and connect

One of the great things about momentum is that it often brings new clients to you – without you really having to do much searching or self-promotion. Word of mouth is a powerful tool, so once you’ve kept one customer happy chances are this could lead to another, then another, then another.

However a mistake that many realtors make is sitting back through busy periods and expecting that the demand for their service will always continue – feeling satisfied, as if they have ‘made it’.

Attending conferences & events is a great way to keep your name out there and connect with others in your industry – and keeping your training up-to-date may point you in the right direction of future sales opportunities.
