There is a current rancor arising from property feud in the home of late Abdul-Azeez Atta, the first Head of Service of the Federation under the then General Yakubu Gowon-led administration. The first-born of the family, Olusegun Atta, has instituted a law suit against his own mother, Mrs. Iyabo Atta, and his other siblings, over an alleged attempt to sell one of their father’s properties.
His issue with the other members of the family, according to a source, is that the property, an Estate located on Temple Road (now Holloway Road), Ikoyi, Lagos, belongs to him.
He is therefore insisting that the property cannot be sold without his consent.
He was said to have written a letter of warning to the concerned members of the family when he learnt about their alleged plans to put up the estate for sale.
A source quoted him as saying that, despite his objection to their move, he stumbled on a draft agreement between his family and a company with the intention to carry out the transfer of the shares of the parent company that manages the property.
There has been no response from the other members of the family so far. We will bring further reports on this as events unfold.
