Ogun Assures Residents of Massive Housing Development

Ogun State Government has restated its commitment in the provision of more affordable housing units for the people of the State.

The General Manager of the State Housing Corporation, Arch. Jumoke Akinwunmi stated this while playing host to a delegation from the West Africa Portland Cement Company (WAPCO) operations, a subsidiary of Lafarge Africa PLC in Abeokuta.

Akinwunmi, in a statement signed by the Corporation’s Press Officer, Mrs. Waliyat Odemakin, acknowledged that more remarkable improvements were being recorded through the Public/Private Partnership (PPP) involvement in the housing sector to further accelerate the urban renewal mission of Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration.

According to her, the Corporation with the collaborative efforts of various private organisations had contributed immensely to solve the challenges confronting housing deficit in the country through the construction of affordable housing units for the low and medium income earners in the State.

The General Manager affirmed that her agency had put necessary opportunities in place for individuals, groups of people and organisations to acquire genuine lands for residential and industrial purposes, saying that estates with quality housing facilities also abound in the State.

Akinwunmi however pledged the willingness of the Corporation to work with the company in order to achieve adequate delivery of housing programmes to the people, adding that the State Government would always create enabling environment for effective PPP collaboration on housing development.

Earlier in her presentation, the Managing Director, WAPCO Operations, Mrs. Adepeju Adebajo emphasised the need for private organisations to complement Federal and State Government’s efforts in delivering affordable housing units, commending the housing development drive of the Corporation.

She also highlighted the opportunities such as the micro finance scheme, technological assistance among other benefits for those who patronise the organisation.
