Real estate mogul, Peter Kalikow has given $10 million to Hofstra to fund a school of public policy.
Newsday reports that Peter S. Kalikow School of Government, Public Policy and International Affairs will incorporate 19 academic disciplines. Graduates will earn a degree in public policy and service.
The 72-year-old Kalikow graduated from Hofstra in 1965.
He is a former chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and former publisher of the New York Post.
Kalikow told Newsday he hopes the school will help students understand the important issues facing the nation.
Kalikow has previously funded a center for the study of the American presidency at Hofstra.
Hofstra President Stuart Rabinowitz said Kalikow has “almost a fanatical interest” in presidential politics and in public issues.
