A member representing Obingwa/Osisioma Ngwa/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency, Abia State in the House of Representatives, Mr. Solomon Adaelu, has donated three graders and earth moving machines for regular grading of rural roads in his constituency.
Vanguard reports that Adaelu while presenting the items in Aba, explained that it was part of his campaign promises to initiate an all year round grading of rural roads in the three council areas which make up the constituency and asked the people to make judicious use of the equipment.
“When I was campaigning, I was shocked at the level of dilapidation of roads in our constituency. I promised that if I was voted in as your representative, I would do my best to ensure that the roads are maintained all year round, especially in the rural areas.
This is in fulfilment of that promise,” Adaelu said. He further said that coordinators had been appointed for the wards and each of the three council areas in the constituency to ensure that the aim of acquiring the equipment was actualized.
While commending the lawmaker for the initiative, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu who pledged N3 million monthly for the operations and fuelling of the grader and the Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Chief Enyinnaya Abaribe, warned that the equipment should not to be used for commercial activities, stressing that no coordinator was allowed to levy the people under the pretext of procuring diesel for the graders, Vanguard reports.
