Businessman arraigned Over Alleged Purchase Of Stolen Property

A 35-year-old businessman, Prince Chinonso, was on Tuesday docked in a Kuje Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly buying stolen property worth N287, 000.

Chinonso, who resides at Paseli area of Kuje, is facing a two-count charge of receiving stolen property and conspiracy.

The prosecutor, Mary Olagunkoye, told the court that the complainant, Mark Solomon, of Kuchiyako area, reported the matter at the Kuje Police Station on Oct. 19.

Olagunkoye said that the accused who deals on building materials, bought interlock moulding machine and a generator set valued at N287, 000 from one John Audu and Joseph Maigari, now at large.

The prosecutor said Audu and Maigari broke into the complainant’s shop and stole the properties.

She said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 384 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty of the charges.

The judge, Malam Abdulahi Abdulkareem, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until 20th of November for mention.
