Court urged to end property dispute between First bank and WBS

Mr. Francis Nwufoh, the Advisory Board Director, Whiteplains British School (WBS), Jabi, Abuja has appealed to the Federal High Court to find a lasting solution to the ongoing dispute on a property between First Bank Plc and the school management.

The Director whose school matter was before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court equally appealed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to play its role in settling the issue.
Mr. Nwufoh made the appeal while briefing newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja over the property situated in Dakibiu area.

According to Nwufoh, the school borrowed money from the bank based on a certain agreement but the bank is trying to breach the agreement and this does not go well with the school.

“This bank gave us loan to the tune of N400 millions to build the school with a payback period between 2015 and 2019 and the management has been paying in tranches to meet up with the deadline.

” So, I wonder what could have led to the harassment with the presence of armed uniform on the building. The bank has even gone ahead to sealed off the school entrance and even erected a fence claiming the property belongs it,” he said.

According to him, First bank paid N200 millions into his account as part of the loan and allegedly deducted another N180 million from his account without his consent.

Nwufoh alleged that the bank claimed the money deducted from his account was part of the interest/charges on the entire loan he borrowed from the bank.

He said that the claim by the bank had made him approach the court and EFCC for fraud crime but was still waiting on the verdict that will be given by them.

“As I’m talking to you now, they have blocked the main gate with concrete block, we can’t even enter or drive in, they have ended up driving everybody from the school.

” I called on the appropriate authorities to intervene in this matter,” he stressed.
