Delta Governor commissions three road projects in Abraka

Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa yesterday, commissioned three road projects in Abraka, home of his political rival, Chief Great Ogboru, the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the state.

The governor who was excited that the people came out in their large numbers to receive him, observed that though, he was not voted for massively by the people of the area during the 2015 general elections, he did not discriminate in the execution of projects in the area.

According to him, “we have been here in the past to commission projects, we are here again to commission three road projects- NUT, Lucas, and Ivie road projects; before we got here, we inspected the Okurekpo/Okunoh-Okpara/Okoruah/Onumane/Samangidi road project which is under construction.”

“We have awarded the construction of more projects in Ethiope East local government area, especially in Abraka for the town to wear a befitting status of a university town,” he said. He added that “we are not discriminating when it comes to the execution of projects because, it is our people that will make use of the roads; in the next four years, we will raise the status of Abraka as a university town with the execution of projects.”

Governor Okowa also commissioned the Obiaruku/Umuebu road, the newly built office complex and perimeter fence of Ukwuani local government Council at Obiaruku. Governor Okowa at the occasion thanked the people of Ukwuani for embracing peace. Noting that the stoppage of hostilities between Umuebu and Amai communities, Eziopkpor and Amai communities would lead to the speedy development of the area.

“We gain nothing by killing one another, it is God that gives life, so, we are not to take life bearing in mind that a peaceful community cannot go wrong; with peace, we will have the enabling environment to develop our communities,” the governor said.

He urged the people to come out and vote for the candidates of the PDP for the tempo of development to be sustained. Chairman of Ethiope East local government Council and her Ukwuani local government counterpart, Hon. Faith Majemite and Hon. Chukwudi Dafe respectively and others who spoke at the occasions assured Governor Okowa that the people would vote for the PDP in the general elections as his administration has “performed to the satisfaction of Deltans.”
