Delta State Government has assured the people of Okwagbe, Otutuama, Esaba in Ughelli-South Local Government Area whose properties were destroyed due to the ongoing road project in the area that their compensation would be paid before the end of August.
Chief James Aguoye, State Commissioner for Works, stated this weekend, during his inspection of the road been constructed in the area.
He revealed that the government has made provisions for the payment of compensation to those individuals whose properties were affected in the communities where projects are been done.
According to him, “I am surprised the compensation has not been paid, we have released money for it, for almost three to four weeks now. By now, we expected that compensation would have been paid, but if it has not been paid, I assure you that next week it will be paid.”
He appealed to the indigenes of the communities to give their full support to the construction companies working on the road.
“From what I am seeing here the contractor is working well, the materials are of high quality as the contractor is also working according to specification of the project from the Ministry of Works. This project has been awarded severally in the past and the governor is determined to get this road completed.”
