The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) said that it would spend about N2.6 billion on 30 roads, comprising 11.7kilometers, in Karu community of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Already, 700 metres of the road project, from Karu Round About to Customs Junction is being completed and would be opened for public use before the end of the week.
Speaking when he inspected the ongoing road project in Karu community yesterday, the coordinator, FCT Satellite Towns Development Agency (STDA), Hon Tanko Ishaku Yamawo, promised that the entire road project would be completed and delivered to the end users, before the middle of the year, if the budget is released early.
“The effort that has led us to where we are today is that of the Honorable Minister of FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, in his commitment to deliver services to the people of FCT. We know that when this road started last year, we made a promise that early this year, we will start laying asphalt, as you have seen today. You can also see that the contractor is going on for the work to be completed before tomorrow”
Yamawo also advised other residents of the territory to exercise patience because the ongoing road project in Karu community would be replicated in other satellite towns in the FCT.
Also speaking, the project manager, Engr Jamil Naser of Enerco Nig Ltd, noted that the only challenge facing the project at the moment, is poor funding, adding the project would be completed as soon as funds are made available.
“We have been here for almost 12 months now, working on this site. We are doing our best to complete the work, with the hope that the government will make enough provision for us in the budget, which will be enough to conclude this work before the end of the year.”
