FG mobilises contractor with N11b to construct Calabar-Itu road

The Federal Government has mobilised Julius Berger Construction Company to site with N11bn to complete the 12km Akwa Ibom section of the Calabar-Itu dual carriageway.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) Sen. Ita Enang disclosed this during an inspection tour of the site yesterday.

Sen. Ita Enang said he was at the site to ascertain the extent of work done.
Regional Manager of the company, South East, Mr. Juergen Fischer, said they were constructing the critically failed portions to ensure free flow of traffic before commencement of the actual dualisation.

Fischer said the relocation of electrical poles to enable the company complete the project as scheduled will be a challenge but assured the people of Akwa Ibom State that the road would be constructed in line with specifications and within 28 months record time.

The Company Liaison Officer, Mr. Ofonime Otu, said that the youths and the entire Akwa Ibom people were happy to see the commencement of the construction of Itu – Calabar dual carriageway.
