Fire destroys Katsina varsity

A wild fire on Tuesday razed down parts and offices of the Katsina State-owned Umar Musa Yar’adua University, destroying some parts of the buildings including some section of faculty of Education, the office of Head of library and information Science department in the faculty, others include the examination office and some lecturer’s rooms.

The cause of the Fire outbreak is still unknown but some onlookers said it might be due to an electrical fault
The katsina state Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari who visited the institution to see things for himself in the company of the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu and the special Adviser on Higher Education, Alhaji Bashir Ruwan Godiya, directed that a committee be set up to investigate the cause of the fire while promising to repay damages caused by the inferno

Meanwhile, Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has urged Indigenes of katsina residents in Lagos to seek for the admission of their children in tertiary educational institutions in the state.

Masari who was speaking when he received the president of Association of indigenes of katsina residents in Lagos and Danburam of Katsina, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar Faskari who led other officials of the Association on a congratulatory visit over re-election, explained that the effort of returning children to study would reduce the cost being incurred in sponsoring lack of familiarity with katsina terrain’’.

The Governor told the delegation from Lagos that he used to receive briefings on their activities, stressing that he was satisfied with the progress being made in that regard.
