The Coordinator of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Federal Capital Territory chapter, Mr. Wobin Gora, has called on the Federal Government to introduce road safety as a subject in schools to enlighten children from their early years.
Speaking in Abuja recently during the grand finale of the GreenLight Initiative/Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) quiz and debate competition for primary and secondary schools in the FCT, he said when the children were taught consciousness of road safety at a tender age, the knowledge will remain with them into adulthood and there will be accident-free roads.
Gora said road safety issues should be introduced in schools at tender age so that children will know their own role as kids while in the car and as a road user and they will be able to correct their parents while they are driving.
The Executive Director, GreenLight Initiative, Mr. Simon Obi, also said there is need to introduce road safety in schools to get the consciousness of children on what to do while they used roads on their daily activities.
