Giwa LG invests N300m on projects

Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State is investing more than N300 million on the execution of developmental projects across the different wards of the council.

The Secretary of the council, Alhaji Usman Isma’il, disclosed this while explaining the efforts of the local government in touching the lives of the residents.

He said the amount would be expended on electrification of villages, rehabilitation of primary school classrooms and construction of new ones, construction of bridges to connect villages as well as drainages and culverts.

He said some of the projects were already ongoing, assuring that most of them would be completed by the end of December.

He added: “The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Abubakar Lawal, has cleared many bushes for these projects. These projects are meant for our people to taste the dividends of democracy. Our people have for the past 20 years been yearning for these types of projects.

“Education is one of the topmost priorities of the council. When we came onboard, the chairman realised that our children didn’t have enough classrooms and he immediately embarked on rehabilitation of 20 and construction of 10 new ones.

“We are also disbursing allowances to indigenes of the local government studying in various tertiary institutions. All these efforts are possible, because the governor has given local governments their autonomy.”

Lawal also explained that the council is planning to build an orphanage home that would cater for orphans and the less privileged in the society. This, he said, is to give hope to the hopeless.
