Gov. Obiano targets 111 roads to boost agric, others

Anambra State Governor, Dr. Willie Obiano yesterday revealed that about 111 roads designated for construction in the first quarter of this year would give a boost to the government’s agricultural, commercial and industrialization vision.

New Telegraph reports that the governor made the statement during a mass at the Retreat Center, Okpuno, Awka South council of the state to mark the New Year retreat with Priests in the Catholic Diocese of Awka.

Obiano noted that the roads which would cut across the three senatorial districts of the state would be of high standard in view of anticipated heavy duty trucks that would convey products to and from the project sites.

He described 2016 as a year of breakthrough for the state despite the fact that it was a period of suffering for other states, adding that the success was as a result of his administration’s power of vision.

The governor said his administration would intensify to ensure that the state economy remained viable with a view to cushioning the effect of the nation’s dwindling economy.

He stressed that apart from initiating short-term policies that would guarantee the state’s continued march towards greater achievements, his administration would be more focused on building strong institutions that would outlive it and pose a viable model for subsequent administrations to consolidate on and take the state to the next level.
