The Igbo-Efon community in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State has issued quit notice to those occupying their lands illegally and advised them to meet with the family representatives to legalise their ownership of such land or be ready to vacate the property.
It would be recalled that the community right to Igbo-Efon land was confirmed in a landmark judgment delivered on December 22, 2016, by Honourable Justice K. O. Alogba of the Lagos High Court suit no LD/826_/2007.
In the judgment, Justice Alogba affirmed the family of Chief Atiku Abogun as rightful owners of Igbo-Egon land.
According to a statement issued by the community and signed by Chief Atiku Abogun, the warning became necessary in order to give those issued quit notice the opportunity to revalidate their ownership of the land, warning that failure to do so could lead to the community taking back their land through lawful means.
