“A Lagos landlord, Engr. Babatope Bejide has filed a contempt proceeding before a Lagos High Court, Igbosere seeking to commit to prison, the chairman of the Lagos land grabbers’Committee, Mr. Jide Bakare.
The plaintiff has raise form 48, which is the notice of consequences of disobedience to court order, warning that Bakare stands the risk of being comitted to Prison if he goes ahead to disobey court orders in respect of a disputed property known as Plot 28, block 74, Engr Babatope Bejide Crescent in Lekki, Lagos.
Bejide filed the action marked as suit No. LD/3977/LMW2016, through his counsel, Ade Oshodi, following the occupation of the said property by members of Task force on Land Grabbers despite a subsisting status quo order of a Lagos High Court on the property.
The claimant also stated that he is the legal and beneficial owner of the entire property which was purchased sometime in 1994 and has been validly issued with both the Certificate of Occupancy and Governor’s consent by the Lagos State government. The matter has been adjourned to April 12, for hearing.”
