NGO embarks on school, housing projects

Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, Mohak Foundation has commenced school and housing projects meant to accommodate the 13.2 million out-of-school children in Nigeria.

Hoping to contribute its quota in nation building, the foundation resolved to construct 48 blocks of classrooms for nursery, primary and secondary pupils/students, hostels for male and female students with recreational/religious centres and halls for youth hub.

These were the revelations of the President of the NGO, Mohammed Mustapha Ishiaka, while having a chat with our correspondent in Abuja, yesterday.

He stated that a training centre within the school premises is mainly for orphans, less privileged children, out-of-school youths, women and the girl-child.

Disclosing this in their maiden project called Mohak Foundation Academy, Ishiaka said the site is located at km 9, Gidan Zakara along Abuja-keffi Road in Nasarawa State.

He also revealed that the ‘Ground Breaking and Flag-off Ceremony’ will come up on July 1 at the site of the project, calling on the general public and volunteers to “join in our school building project in order to tackle the problem of illiteracy.”

He said their overall goal is to eliminate hunger, poverty, provision of quality education, facilitation of good health/well-being and ensure gender equality.

To achieve these goals, the following actions, he said would be implemented, emergency cash transfers to help the destitute purchase food or meet urgent needs, construction of schools and award of scholarships.
