Nigeria real estate hub partners with Ubong King at Thinkation 2018

THINKATION 2018

Thinkation is a word coined from thinking and education. An initiative put together by the Ubong King Foundation to liberate young people out of their dependency mind-set.

The event covered by Nigeria real estate hub featured outstanding speakers like His Excellency, FLT.LT. Jerry Rawlings, Former President of the republic of Ghana as the Keynote speaker, Her Excellency, Deaconess Omolewa  Ahmed, First Lady of Kwara State as the Lead speaker, Madam Ini Abimbola, Lead consult, Thistle Praxis Consulting as the Guest speaker.

The convener, Ubong King also known as the trouble maker is a third class graduate of Cross Rivers University. He is a man who has tasted failure and understood what it means to be down and rejected by family and friends.

He ventured into security business about 22years ago which he named Guard It but later closed it down to join another security company known as Pahek security service Limited. He is currently the CEO of protection plus services limited.

Ubong king is passionate about entrepreneurs. He loves to motivate them and connect them with top executives.

Thinkation was borne out of his passion for Nigeria’s unemployed youths who sit back waiting to be spoon-fed by the government.

He chose the best speakers for the programme; people who have been soiled by their past experiences but against all odds rose above the horizon to pursue the career they are passionate about.

The programme started with a mental massage. It was a video clip used to boost the morale of the participants.

Some of the quotes are:

“If you want to be successful as much as you want to breathe then you will be successful”.

“Be able to sacrifice what you are for what you could be”.

“Pain is temporary but it will subside. If you quit, it will last forever. Deal with your pain”.

Atilola Morounfolu presented a mind-blowing poet about the ticking time.

A video clip of His Excellency, Jerry Rawlings was aired and he talked about why he coludn’t make it to the event due to health issues.

He appreciated the Ubong King Foundation for the wonderful programme.

The guest speaker Madam Ini Abimbola  wowed the participants with her experience. She talked about her poor family background and  her family’s inadequacy to afford three square meals. She said her father was just a watch repairer while her mother, a petty trader. They all struggled through life living in a slum.

Above all these, she was able to succeed. She got a scholarship to study abroad but her family could not afford to pay for her passport photograph. She later got help from church, neighbours, family members etc.

She currently has nine companies that are doing quite well.  She advised the participants not to let anything bring them down.  She has a lot of excuses to fail but above all, she scaled through.

Another wonderful speaker was the First Lady of kwara State, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed. She also shared her experience. She was brought up in a loveless home by her mother. Her parents separated when she was just 11 months old and most times, she feels responsible for their separation because her mother was too serious and bitter to care about her feelings.  The single parenthood she encountered made her vow to make her marriage work no matter what.

She is also an NGO and the CEO of LEAH foundation. An initiative borne out of passion and zeal to cater for women who are passing through what she once went through.

She said “I had every excuse not to succeed but I was determined”

“I have seen a lot of temptations, I fell at some point but God refined me and dusted me up”

“The fact that you fell or missed it at some point doesn’t mean you are a loser”

“You are a product of whatever choices you make in life”

She also advised the participants not to feel inadequate at any point and not to allow guilt weigh them down.

Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome also known as Ali Baba lectured the participants about Disruptive Thinking in business and how pace setters do it.

The Nigerian popular comedian brought what he knows how to do best into his lecture which he slashed into stages

He started with WHO ARE YOU?

He said to be successful in life; the first thing you need to know is who you are.

Followed by WHAT YOU WANT TO BECOME

He talked about the life of Jesus Christ coming to the earth to learn more even though he is powerful. No matter who you are, you still need to learn a pursue a sellable idea

WHERE YOU WANT TO DO IT

Understanding your target audience and knowing where to find them is very key.

YOU NEED TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING

You need to do your feasibility studies and target your destination, observe and make findings about the place.

WHEN

To disrupt any business market, you need to know when to strike

WHY?

Don’t go into any business because your neighbour is doing it. Have a mind of your won and know why you want to run that business.

WHICH?

Know which business suits your environment.

WHOM?

You need to do things differently.

HOW?

If the HOW is wrong, all what you planned will be wasted. Everyone that has done good business disrupted the norm.

Ubong King rounded up the lectures with some words of advice; Daring youths to do more, learn more and follow their passion.

The programme ended with the performance of Woli Arole and Alasiri cracking jokes and making everyone laugh out their hearts.
