Ogun: Issuance of electronic CofO to property owner now simplified

The Ogun state government has simplified the processes of issuing the electronic Certificate of Occupancy to property owners. This statement was made by the Director-General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Mr. Adewale Oshinowo.

It added that the migration from paper C-of-O to the electronic format was to tackle counterfeiting of the document, eliminate fraud and ensure efficiency in land administration.

The statement read in part, “The new electronic document is more secure as it is designed to eliminate cloning and issuance of documents that are not genuine. Those issued with this e-C-of-O can be sure they have bought land rather than law suits.

“The new document guarantees safety and assurance of properties when it is issued; it is sure that land owners have bought land rather than law suits, and the process of obtaining the e-C-of-O is faster and less cumbersome.”

It noted that the state government considered the option of issuing the e-C-of-O with peculiar security features to avert the possibility of fraudsters and criminally-minded printers imitating hard copies of the document
