Ogun State Govt. Builds 96 Modern Houses For Villagers

The Ogun State Government has relocated villagers at Itoku-Elewe Irepodun along Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway to a new settlement within the area, where it has built 96 modern houses for them.

The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, disclosed this on Friday while briefing journalists on the programme of events for the state’s 40th anniversary celebration.

He said the relocation of the villagers became necessary as the Governor Ibikunle Amosun-led administration opened up the area with a housing estate there.

Adeoluwa said, “There were 46 mud structures with small wooden box windows inhabited by the villagers who are mainly farmers on that land. With coming of the estate, Governor Amosun decided to relocate the villagers with the provision of three-bedroom flats for each household.

“The first set of 96 flats that the state resolved to build are nearing completion.”

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Adedayo Adeneye, later took journalists to the project site.

He explained that though the state government counted only 46 old mud buildings in the community, the governor compensated the villagers with modern houses that boast of modern facilities.

He said, “There are facilities, including water closet, pipe borne water, electricity, tarred road network and parking lot, among others.

“Each building contains twin three-bedroom flats with tiled floors, and provision was made for dining area.”

The SSG said that among 60 completed projects by the state government, 40 had been selected for inauguration by President Muhammadu Buhari, who is expected to arrive the state on February 1.

Adeoluwa said no fewer than 11 former governors of the state would hold a special executive session with Amosun on the same day.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Works, Olamilekan Adegbite, is to present 1,000 Certificates of Occupancy and other title documents to another batch of beneficiaries under the Ogun Homeowners’ Charter at the state secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta on Thursday.

According to a statement from the Office of the Homeowners’ Charter Committee, beneficiaries are to come with valid means of identification and photocopies of same early for accreditation.
