Ogun to repair Nigeria Army barracks access roads

Ogun state aims to rehabilitate the Army barracks access roads as soon as all necessary arrangements has been concluded.

Mr. Ayokunle Ewuoso, said Governor Ibikunle Amosun had already given his nod for the commencement of the fencing of the barracks, adding that officials of the ministry would soon visit the place to assess the state of the roads with the aim of commencing the rehabilitation as soon as all necessary arrangements had been concluded.

The Ogun State Government has assured the Nigeria Army that it will assist in rehabilitating the access roads within the 81 Base Ammunition Depot, Nyangoa Barracks, Lanfewa, Abeokuta, just as it has promised that rehabilitation work on the Lanfewa-Aiyetoro road will soon commence.

The Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Kayode Ademolake, who gave the assurance while playing host to the Commanding Officer, 81 Base Ammunition Depot Nyangoa Barracks, NA, Lanfewa, Abeokuta, Lt.-Col Ernest Ineme, said the state government would continue in its quest of making live bearable for the citizens not minding their colour or race.

Ademolake, who was quoted in a statement issued by the spokesperson for the ministry, Mr. Ayokunle Ewuoso, said Governor Ibikunle Amosun had already given his nod for the commencement of the fencing of the barracks, adding that officials of the ministry would soon visit the place to assess the state of the roads with the aim of commencing the rehabilitation as soon as all necessary arrangements had been concluded.

“I was planning to come to Lanfewa along with the officials of the ministry to assess the bad state of the road with a view of rehabilitating it; so, with your request, it becomes 100 per necessary to branch into your command and get the place restored by the special grace of God. The ministry is always ready to assist you in that direction,” Ademolake said.

Ineme commended the governor for his giant strides in the area of road construction and other spheres of human endeavour, noting that the massive construction of roads in the state had turned it to a giant construction site.

He said, “I’m here to identify with the good works that the state government is doing in the area of infrastructural development across the state and tell you some of our challenges in the barracks. Without telling me, within the short period I have stayed in Abeokuta, I have seen the relevance of your ministry.

“In the course of my stay, I have seen a lot of work going on and my major concern is the Lanfewa and the barracks roads. Please, I want the ministry to assist us by rehabilitating them.
