Stakeholders seek urgent measure to end building collapse

The spate at which buildings are being collapsed in the metropolis, especially, in the Lagos Mainland has become a source of worry to the stakeholders.

Their concern was reflected at an interactive session organised Building Collapse Prevention Guild (BCPG), a nongovernmental organization (NGO) and the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).

The forum, held at Yaba Local Government Secretariat last week, had in attendance, traditional rulers, community leaders and members of the various professional group, discussed the best way to end the menace.

Speaking at the event, Oba Owolabi Adeniyi, the Igbobi Sabe has called for an end to such a disaster that had claimed many lives.

The monarch expressed deep concern over the frequent incidences of building colapse within his domain.

Specifically, the monarch wants the government to put necessary machinery in place to check against people building houses that are not up to the required standard to prevent building collapse.
