Twitter users blast Ambode for fixing Afrikan Shrine roads to welcome French President

Lagos residents have accused the Lagos State Government under Akinwunmi Ambode of hypocrisy for fixing roads around the New Afrika Shrine in Agidingbi, Ikeja area of the state, where French President, Emmanuel Macron visited two days ago.

Macron is due to commission the newly-improved Alliance Francaise facility in the highbrow Ikoyi area of the state  but first visited Fela Anikulapo-Ketu’s famous shrine located in the Lagos state capital.

The roads were said to have spotted pockets of visible potholes but were neglected before the coming of the 40-year-old French leader.

Taking to Twitter, Lagosians wondered why the state government waited for the visit of a foreign leader before embarking on the rehabilitation of the roads.

Because @EmmanuelMacron Is coming to Lagos, the roads are being tarred and alternate route digital billboards are being constructed. Does this mean we the citizens do not deserve these without the visit of a foreign president?

Dear @EmmanuelMacron, Can you visit Africa often?

Seems our leaders will fix our roads when they know you’re coming.

Thank you

So they need to repair the road because the President Of France is coming to Afrika Shrine. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

Since @EmmanuelMacron will be visiting The African Shrine tomorrow @followlasg and @LSPWC_Official remembered the road that leads to African Shrine. This is sad @Gidi_Traffic @InsideMainland

If you stay around The African Shrine area and the roads in your community need fixing send us the pictures and we will tag @EmmanuelMacron, you might get lucky he will stop by and your road automatically gets fixed. #Lagospotholes @Gidi_Traffic

I didn’t know about the visit so was happy that govt is working. From nowhere, 2 weeks ago. Work started. Now in 2 weeks, they’re almost done, in another circumstance, would it be done so quickly? Is govt more accountable to a perception than a reality of development? Disgusting
