UniAbuja launches housing estate for staff members

The management of UniAbuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) Gwagwalada, has keyed into the Federal Government’s policy of providing housing for its staff.

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Professor Bisallah Ekele, stated this at the groundbreaking ceremony of the housing estate for the senior staff association of the hospital at Wuna village in Abuja.

He said the estate was in collaboration with a private developer, Habi Tent Properties.

Ekele, who was represented by the chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital, Dr. Nicolas Bamlong, encouraged other members of staff that were yet to join the association to do so, saying building and owning a house are a lifetime saving.

Speaking on the motive behind the project, chairman of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Senior Staff Association, Mr. Maxwell Telzing, said it was part of the welfare of the hospital staff, which he noted, was in line with the Federal Government’s policy in ensuring that civil staff lived in their own houses before their retirement was due.

On his part, the chairman, Habi Tent Properties, Mr. Edwin Chibo, assured that the firm was committed to providing shelter to civil staff of the hospital that is capable.
