Vanguard reports that about 100 residents of Sholanke Street, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State were, yesterday, displaced after fire razed two buildings, destroying property worth millions of naira.
According to Vanguard, sources said the two buildings located at 172 and 173 Sholanke Street, were razed after the inferno started at about 4p.m. Explaining the enormity of the inferno, a fire service official told Vanguard that it took the officials over two hours to put out the fire. He added that the building had boys’ quarters, which was also razed by the inferno.
The Director of the State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, said the fire was put out with three trucks. He said: “We are in the harmattan season and I urge residents of Lagos to adhere to safety measures.”
