20 interesting real estate facts you need to know

Real estate is serious business, but within the paper works and all the extra work that goes into securing a home, there are also a lot of interesting facts you should get acquainted with. There is really nothing bad, as a real estate professional, to know some interesting real estate facts. 

I believe you will have a totally different and refreshing outlook to real estate after going through these facts. 

1. Home is where the heart (and equity) is: 61.4% of the average American family’s net worth is in home equity. (Hopefully, Nigeria will get beyond this level soon)
2. A homeowner’s net worth is over thirty times greater than that of a renter. (I will be surprised if you didn’t know this before. But that’s why you are reading it anyway. Make sure your clients know this!)
3. TGIF! The best day of the week to list your home is Friday. (You are either listing today, or having to wait one more week!)
4. Historically, the best month of the year to sell is April. Although we would dispute that –maybe it’s the most common month, but often sellers fare better in the ‘off months’ of summer and winter.
5. Odds are you’re going to need some help selling: Homeowners have a 120% better chance of selling their home when using a realtor.
6. The median age of first-time  home buyers is 31. (Are you still within range? Check!)
7. A lot of home buyers think the neighborhood is more important to them than the size of the home. (That’s why LOCATION is an important factor of real estate)
8. A recent survey reports that 80% of home buyers believe their home is a good investment, 44 percent saying it’s better than stocks
9. The percentage of people who use the internet in home search has increased by 60% in the last 12 months! (Internet is the way to go!).
