A.J. Missri and Company Limited seeks Ambode’s intervention over property

The Guardian reports that the Managing Director of a real estate investment company, A.J. Missri and Company Limited, Nze Edozie Okafor, has called for the intervention of Governor Akinwumni Ambode over alleged unlawful acquisition of the company’s landed property at No. 23, Breadfruit Street, Lagos by the State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA).

Nze Okafor told The Guardian that the appeal became necessary following various attempts to make the management of LASURA see reasons with the company and reverse its act of impunity and disregard of the law.

Nze Okafor, who presented documents, including land certificate of the freehold issued by Lagos State government and Deed of Register to show the firm’s ownership of the property, maintained that the property occupying about 322 Square metres was built over 30 years ago and the his company’s name was still in the registry as the owner of the land before the invasion by LASURA officials on June 8, 2017, who demolished the structure and erected a signboard claiming that the property belongs to the Lagos State Government.

General Manager of LASURA, Mr. Lateef Solebo, however told The Guardian that the property in question belongs to the state government and evidence to that effect resides with them. He urged the claimant to take the government to court to prove its ownership.
