Abuja : FCT staffs thank minister for Land allocation

Workers under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Staff Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Ltd last Thursday thanked FCT Minister Bala Mohammed for giving approval to their application for land for its members. The land was allotted for construction of affordable houses for staff within FCT.

The president of the society, Comrade Emmanuel Abenu expressed appreciation to the minister saying this is the first time FCT administration has publicly given land to cooperative societies for the benefit of staff.
Abenu also warned a sister cooperative society in FCT which uses the name of his cooperative society to desist from it thenceforth saying, “Our name remains our corporate existence. No other cooperative society has the patent right to use FCTA Staff Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Ltd.”

The secretary of the society, Comrade Emmanuel Tortiv said the FCTA Staff Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Ltd is the first in FCT.  It started in 2002 with 10 members but is now over 1,000-member strong.
Tortiv said unlike a sister cooperative society, FCTA Staff Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Ltd is at peace and free of litigations. He beckoned on workers under FCTA administration to come and join the society and learn how to discipline themselves and save money.
FCT administration has over 28,000 workers.
