ACA To Launch A Book Titled ‘The Architecture In Nigeria’

As part of the events to mark their 10th anniversary, the Association of Consulting Architects in Nigeria (ACA Nigeria), the professional body which represents consultant architects in private practice will next Wednesday launch a book titled: “The Architecture in Nigeria.”

Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, the President, ACA- Nigeria, Mr. Omotayo Babalakin, explained that the book showcases the talent of architects in the country, adding that it would be useful to students in tertiary institutions and also to help attract the younger generation into the profession.

“This book shows that we have come of age, it shows the skills we have in this country because what we have documented here are work done by Nigerians and not foreigners. The book is edited by the Publications Committee of ACA-Nigeria and is being presented as a documentary of Architecture in Nigeria, featuring some laudable and memorable projects from members of the association.

“This book makes a case for the wholly indigenous practice and intends to inform the public that Nigerian Architects are more than capable of delivering buildings and infrastructure of the highest standards. In creating this book, there were so many projects to choose from and the body of work of Nigerian architects continues to grow daily,” the president added.

The book launch would be one of the three major events to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the association. The line-up of events also include a golf kitty and the association’s annual general meeting.

“One of the key objectives of ACA Nigeria is to equip its member firms with information and tools that are needed to practice at the highest levels. This book is going to be in bookshops and airports across the country. In the preparation of the book, there was great attention paid to details and everything has been done to ensure that this book would be proudly displayed on any coffee table anywhere in the world,” he added.
