As part of activities marking the 28th celebration of the state’s creation, Akwa Ibom State governor Udom Emmanuel commissioned the newly constructed Gynaecology Ward of the Catholic Hospital at Anua built in memory of an Irish Reverend Sister Dr. Ann Ward. Governor Emmanuel extolled the labour of love she gave to the people stating that it has made the hospital a reference point in child’s birth and treatment of other ailments.
The governor said he was moved by the decay of infrastructure at the facility and vowed that if God will give him the opportunity, he would revamp the hospital being his birth place.
He stated that he visited the hospital soon after his inauguration alongside stakeholders of the state and requested the mission’s collaboration in the renovation of the health facility.
The move he said, has paid off with state of the art structures which has ranked the hospital among the best in the state.
