Akwa Ibom governor renovates 346 schools

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has renovated over 346 public primary and secondary schools across the state in the last three years.
The Special Assistant on Projects to the governor, Iqwat Umoren, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Uyo on Wednesday.

He said that the tuition-free primary and secondary education policy of the state government had resulted in an influx of students to schools, even from neighbouring states.

He said that since the governor came to power in 2015 he had constructed 1,701 kilometres of road and 35 bridges across the state.

He also stated that the government was building roads that would link all the local government areas for economic purposes and that efforts were already in place to improve power generation in the state among other things.

The special assistant said that the lofty strides of the administration had impacted well on the residents of Akwa Ibom in many ways.
According to him, the governor is able to undertake all these projects due to prudent management of available resources available to the state.

He said: “The policy and programmes implementation of Governor Udom Emmanuel is geared towards leveraging on the available resources amid an unstable national economy.

“It is also geared towards provision of basic social and economic amenities, for effective impact on the lives of citizens and sufficiently raise their standard of living.”

He said that apart from provision of infrastructure, the governor also repositioned the agriculture, health and education sectors.

According to Umoren, the governor’s achievements cut across all sectors of the economy and social life, especially in industrialisation, which was his campaign promise.

He appealed to all Akwa Ibom indigenes and residents, to support the governor’s re-election, to ensure sustainability of the achievements.
