Ambode kicks off reconstruction of Igbo-Bola Tinubu-Igbe road

“Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has kicked off the reconstruction of Igbo-Bola Tinubu-Igbe road in Igbogbo-Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of the state. At a stakeholders meeting ahead of the reconstruction, he stated that his administration is committed to constructing motorable roads that would enhance ease of doing business in the state.”- The Guardian

Represented by the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Co-operatives, Mr. Rotimi Ogunleye, he also noted that the construction is part of the state’s infrastructure development vision, adding that the road would also provide investment friendly environment and will improve public safety through reduction in travel time, vehicle maintenance, transportation cost and better standard of living.

He further stated that the road would serve as a link to Ijede, Gberigbe, Imota where the state government has established a Rice Mill turning out 32 million metric tons daily.

In his speech, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Olujimi Hotonu, enumerated the scope of the project to include dual carriageway road (two lanes in each direction), seven standard laybys on each side of the road, dedicated lanes for cyclists and pedestrians, provision of longitudinal and transverse service ducts and construction of three pedestrian bridges, reinforced concrete drainages, culvert, signages, traffic signal light and streetlight.

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, seized the opportunity to advise landowners to keep their land, as the road would add value to their property while soliciting their cooperation and monitoring of the projects against miscreants.

Nurudeen Sholaja, representing Ikorodu constituency 11 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, assured residents, especially artisans and suppliers, of patronage by the contractor during the construction, while enjoining them to support the project fully.
