The Lagos State Association of Indigenous Contractors has called on Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to engage local contractors in the execution of projects in the state.
The group said it has experienced members, whose expertise would guarantee quality projects craved by the government.
The Chairman of the association, Mr. Adedayo Aderemi, made the remarks on Wednesday after the election of a new executive.
He said, “We commend the governor for his resolve towards rescuing indigenous contractors by giving outright instruction, especially on every project he inspects, to ensure that local contractors are used to execute all approved projects in the state
“I have no doubt that we have experienced and listening technocrats who can decipher the areas that are good for the government and beneficial to the residents as far as award and execution of contracts are concerned. We, therefore, appeal for due recognition and consideration by this government.”
Aderemi, who was elected unopposed, commended the electoral committee of the association for conducting a fair and successful election that led to the emergence of the new officers, who would steer the ship of the group for the next three years.
The Chairman, electoral committee, Alhaji Wale Ayinla, congratulated the newly-inaugurated executive and expressed confidence that they would perform “due to their track records.”
Among the newly-elected executive members are the Vice-Chairman, Atinuke Onitiri; General Secretary, Akinsuyi Michael; Treasurer, Adedipe Esther; and Public Relations Officer, Idowu Ayodele.
