Bauchi State commences N4.5bn road project

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has begun the construction of 24 kilometres of road in Katagum, Darazo and Misau local government areas at the cost of over N4.5bn.

While the construction of Sade-Akuyam Road, linking Dazaro and Misau local government areas, was awarded at the cost of over N3.5bn, that of Hospital Road to Jama’are, Azare bye-pass and Tafawa Balewa Road to Jama’are – Shira Road was awarded at over N1bn.

Speaking at the project site in Sade town on Wednesday, the governor announced that his administration had released 50 per cent of the amount as part of efforts to ensure the completion of the project within the stipulated period.

He said when completed, the Sade –Akuyam road would reduce the hardship being experienced by the benefiting communities and assured the people that his administration would not relent in awarding road projects for infrastructural development of the state.

Meanwhile, Bauchi state governor has sworn in the newly appointed chairmen, caretaker committees of the 20 local government areas of the state.

Those appointed are Yusuf Garba, Alkaleri; Danladi Danbaba, Bauchi; Ilya Habila, Bogoro; Sale Dumba, Dass; Gara’u Adamu, Darazo; Ahmad Abubakar, Dambam; Adamu Lele, Gamawa; Abubakar Ado, Giade; Dayyabu Kariya, Ganjuwa and Ahmad Itas, Itas/Gadau.

Others are Sama’ila Dogon Jeji, Jama’are; Babayo Madara, Katagum; Yaro Muhammad, Misau; Bappa Abdu, Kirfi; Nura Dan Mai Sharia, Ningi; Maigari Khanna, Shira; Kefas Magaji, Tafawa Balewa; Shehu Buba, Toro; Muhammad Danjummai, Warji and Yahuza Zaki, Zaki.

Mohammed warned the caretaker chairmen against corruption, indolence and incompetence in the discharge of their duties.
