A Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court, Abuja on Tuesday sentenced a 28-year-old carpenter, Ibrahim Sadam, to seven days imprisonment for causing public nuisance.
The convict, who resides at Works and Housing Quarters, Wuse 2, Abuja, pleaded guilty to the one-count charge levelled against him and begged for leniency.
The Magistrate, Idayat Akanni, however, gave the convict an option to pay N1, 000 fine.
She advised the convict to shun crime and be of good behavior.

The magistrate said that the punishment was to serve as deterrent to other would be offenders.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Adeyemi Oreyemi, had told the court that the officer-in-charge of Provost 44, Federal Housing Quarters, Abuja, and his team, arrested the convict and took him to the Police Station on Feb. 2.
He said that the convict was seen wandering and disturbing public peace.
Oyeyemi said the offence contravened Section 198 of the Penal Code.
