CCECC commences building of platforms for Porter Cabins

In preparation for demolition of 13 railway stations from Iddo to Ijoko, to pave way for ongoing construction of Lagos to Ibadan Standard Gauge railway line, China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) has started building platforms where Porter Cabins will be positioned.

The Porter Cabins according to sources will serve as temporary offices for staff of the Corporation posted to the stations to regulate movement of trains on the existing Narrow gauge railway line pending the construction of new office terminals by CCECC.

Investigation carried out by our Correspondent shows that the platforms for positioning of the Porter Cabins have already been built at Agege, Ikeja, Sogunle and Oshodi.

Also, a new Police Station is currently under construction by CCECC some few Kilometers from the Agege Railway Level Crossing as the current location of Agege Police Station fell on the “Right of Way,” of the Standard Gauge railway line.

Meanwhile work on the sand filling of Sogunle to Ikeja axis of the railway line has commenced with trucks seen daily offloading red sand to solidify the soil before laying the tracks.

A visit to Agbado by our Correspondent, also shows that the huge refuse dump a few kilometers to Agbado Railway Station which was hitherto abandoned for several years have been evacuated with trucks to unknown destination.
