CORBON endorses FUTA’s building technology department

The Federal University of Technology, Akure, says the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria has described its Department of Building Technology as world class in terms of its curriculum and configuration.

FUTA said in a statement that the leader of the CORBON Accreditation Panel, Prof.KabirBala, stated this during a statutory visit to the Building Technology department of the institution recently.

It added that Bala adjudged the curriculum of the department as one of the best he had ever come across, saying that it had global acceptability.

“The Department of Building’s curriculum is one of the best I have ever seen as it captures the whole essence of the building programme and it can be presented anywhere in the world,” Bala was quoted as saying.

He also said that in terms of facilities, the department had full complement of state of the art equipment.

“I am happy with the crop of staff members in the school considering the age of the institution. Teamwork is seen among the staff members as all of them were involved in the accreditation exercise,” he said.

Bala was also said to have commended the school Library, adding that it had good collections of books that could assist the students in their field of study.

“The e-Library is an advantage; it will guide the students and even open them up to what operates in some other schools of Building outside Nigeria,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor, FUTA, Prof.AdebiyiDaramola, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Tunde Arayela, was quoted to have said that the CORBON accreditation team was thorough and detailed in their observations.

“I am sure this report will add to the quality of the building programme in FUTA and the university will not stop at improving on what it has on ground. Our quest for excellence in all our programmes will be sustained,” he said.
