Property Theft – A Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday ordered the remand of 22-year-old Nasiru Mohammed, for allegedly stealing hotel property.
The judge, Sani Mohammed, ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison pending further order of the court.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Vincent Osuji, told the court that one Chukwuemeka Ajah of Miami Escape Hotel, Karu, Abuja, reported the matter at the Karu Police Station, Abuja, on April 27.
He said that the complainant who is also the manager of the above-mentioned hotel alleged that the defendant committed the offence on the same date.
“According to him, the defendant jointly conspired with one Jimoh and Ibrahim, now at large, and broke into the hotel and stole some valuable items.
“The stolen hotel property include 10 LG 22 inches Plasma TV, Nokia Lumia 360 dual sim phone, Techno phone, assorted drinks, 53 inches LG flat screen television, all values yet to be ascertained.
“The defendant also stole N15,700 cash, and during police investigation, none of the items were recovered,” Osuji said.
He said the offences contravened Sections 79, 312, 288, and 309 of the Penal Code Law.
The defendant had pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge bordering on joint-act, criminal trespass, house-breaking and theft.
The judge adjourned the case until June 12, for trial.
