Cross River set to commission British/Canadian School in Obudu

Arrangement has been concluded by the government of Cross River State to commission the British/Canadian International School which is presently undergoing construction in kakum, Obudu Local Government Area in the state in May this year.

The Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education disclosed this while ordering the contractors at site to redouble their efforts towards meeting up with deadline with the commissioning date.

Odey thanked the contractors and his team for the quality of work done saying what SUBEB has seen on ground was quite encouraging and asked that effort must be re-doubled to meet up with the deadline set up by the board to commission the project warning that SUBEB would not tolerate any act of indolence.

“ We have seen what is on ground and the quality is superb. But now the tempo will change, because we have been given a standing order by the governor that this project must be commissioned in May, and I have never disappointed my boss before and I will not start now.”Odey added.

The SUBEB boss told the contractors to bring in more hands and extend the working hours so as to meet up with the set target saying, ”I have come here with my team to stay with you and monitor what is going on here,”

Expressing his satisfaction with the level of work done, Odey urged contractors to remain committed and further charged them, to speed up the construction process in order to meet the set deadline. While stressing the importance of the project, Dr Odey said the project is very dear to governor Ayade, and it will improve the quality of education in Cross River State and in Nigeria at large.

The Junior Secondary School which is said to be the first of its kind in Africa will comprise of the following; tree-lined walk way of 3.4meters (8ft), 3-Storey building class room blocks of 18 classrooms, male and Female hostels of 40 rooms each, Administration/Assembly building, Clinic, Laboratory, Library, Dining hall, Staff accommodation, Sporting facilities (football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, table tennis and hand ball courts.

Consequently, the Executive Chairman, Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Stephen Odey has relocated to the construction site of the School upon the instruction of the Governor to ensure speedy completion of the project.
