Delta community tasks government, contractor on road repair

The President General of Isoko Development Union, Chief Iduh Amadhe, has urged the state government to repair the link roads within Iyede community that have been damaged by heavy-duty vehicles.

He made the appeal during a meeting held with the director, monitoring of project, CCC Company, Onuoseke Sonny at Isoko Unity house. He charged him to alert Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on the plights of commuters plying the road.
Amadhe also appealed to indigenes of Isoko and Urhobo to rise up to the challenge posed by the road as moment from Asaba /Port Harcourt and Warri axis has become an embarrassment to the entire Isoko nation.

Responding, Onuoseke said, the governor is aware of the poor state of the road noting that the contractor in collaboration with the ministry of works in Delta State would soon fix the internal link roads. He emphasised that the twere not part of the original reconstruction and maintained that paucity of funds contributed to the delay in early completion.

Onuoseke who expressed concerns on the plights of the commuters assured that the road is now a priority to the contractor. In another development, Amadhe has expressed displeasure over the excavated portion of Iyede / Ughelli road as the contractor is yet to complete the reconstruction of the project.

Speaking with newsmen, he said, Oghara – Iyede, Ekiugbo – Iyede, and Eboh – Iyede link and other internal roads have all been destroyed due to activities of heavy trucks. The president general condemned the contractors’ failure to provide enough equipment, men and materials to fasten up completion of the road, which he noted has affected the economic life of the people. Amadhe called on the project director to invite the contractor for a meeting in order to factor out immediate solutions to the project.
